Yes, we need to talk about power! Power is the central issue so that things work or don’t work. First of all, it is value-neutral. At what point does it become good or bad? Where does abuse begin? Who says that power was abused in a particular case? How is it even possible that power is abused? Does it happen when moral concepts are put in the service of power? Or when corruption is used to unilaterally change rules of the game that were based on a broad consensus? Or when individual powerful people lose all sense of proportion. We are currently seeing that neurotics and egocentrics are the main players in the power game. We are the ones who are giving up essential issues out of comfort, thoughtlessness or anticipatory obedience. They then only use the vacuum. Are we not to blame for this? So how do we tame the abysses of power? As entrepreneurs and managers, you cannot do without power. How do I empower myself and others? – And how far may or must I go in order to gain (back) power? How do “exercise power” and “ethical action” go together? We have the problem of finding less and less fixed reference systems. Exercising power without crossing the boundaries of individuals is not possible. But it is also not possible to exercise power without “remaining innocent”. It is undoubtedly a question of balance. We are interested in where and how we have succeeded in keeping power in the “good area”.
