RELIABILITY – COMMITMENT – SOLIDARITY! WHERE ARE THE ROLE MODELS? IS IT US?

Event date: 21. September 2017

People who gave us reliability, commitment and solidarity are our role models. Through them we have been able to grow personally, as a community and as a society, to move strongly into the future and to find a healthy autonomy as children, young people and citizens. The current technological trends such as Industry 4.0, digitalisation, Big Data etc. undoubtedly bring many benefits. In critical discourse, however, there are also dimensions of unreliability, non-commitment and disconnectedness which have not been known before. There is agreement: “Everything will be different. But nobody knows how.” The same applies to new social norms, which are often promoted under the heading of compliance. Some of them bring to light frightening realities of unreliability, noncommitment and disconnectedness. It is not uncommon for our values to be confiscated, sometimes even criminalised. As if we did not have enough of the unplannable, unpredictable things in life, such as our health, nature, the weather, chance in every respect. Why do we watch with our eyes closed as we, virtually home-made, lose the stabilising power of reliability, commitment and solidarity? In these times of technological and social change, role models for these “old” values are important again. Are we these role models? Are we entrepreneurs and consultants suitable as role models? Where are the role models? – We should have some idea!
